Rejoins Congress

BELLARY: M. Diwakar Babu on Monday withdrew from the fray as Janata Dal (S) candidate in Bellary city Assembly constituency in support of Congress candidate Anil Lad. He also rejoined the party within a month after leaving it. Mr. Babu had said on April 16 that he was quitting Congress and joining the Janata Dal (S) as he could no more tolerate the “back-stabbing” by party leaders in the city and that the Congress had thrown all principles to the wind.

“My only aim is to defeat the communal forces and therefore I decided to rejoin the Congress,” he said.

Mr. Babu was welcomed into the party by M. Mallikarjun Kharge, president of the KPCC, at a press conference. .
