Job fairs in 10 cities

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: Starting from May 28, job-cum-skill fairs will be periodically held in 10 second-tier cities in Karnataka throughout the year.

Speaking on the sidelines of the workshop, S.J. Amalan, Regional Director of the Apex Hi-Tech Institute, Ministry of Labour of Employment, said the fairs would be held in these cities once every two months and anyone aged between 14 and 60 could take part in them. Those who did not qualify in one round of the fair could return after two months after obtaining more training, he added.

About 700 training institutes, apart from industries, would participate in the fair, said Mr. Amalan. The cost of training and testing those who participated in the fairs would be borne by the Government. Sixty such fairs would be held throughout the year, he said.
