Congress bereft of issues: Jaitley

Staff Correspondent

HUBLI: “The Congress has taken a defensive stand in the campaign for the Assembly elections, as it has no issues to put before the people,” Arun Jaitley, who is in charge of Bharatiya Janata Party affairs in Karnataka, said on Tuesday. He was inaugurating the party’s campaign office, which has been shifted to Hubli for the party’s campaign for the second and third phases of the elections.

Mr. Jaitley said the Congress had become “leaderless and issueless” and that was why it had suddenly gone on the defensive in the ongoing election process. He blamed Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for the rising inflation and also the increasing terrorist activities.
