This Day That Age
The Government of India have decided to give financial assistance to States in the form of loans for meeting expenditure in connection with flood control schemes. This was announced by Mr. Hafiz Mohammad Ibrahim, Union Minister for Irrigation and Power, while inaugurating the seventh meeting of the Central Flood Control Board in New Delhi on May 12. The Minister said that considerable progress had been made in the implementation of the second stage of the flood control programme. In the first stage, emphasis was laid on surveys and investigations for the collection of essential technical data. Emergency protection works for the worst-affected areas, he said, had given immunity to extensive areas. The work on the aerial photography and field levelling had also been completed.
