This Day That Age
Vice-Admiral R.D. Katari, the new Chief of the Naval Staff, in his address to senior officers at the Naval Headquarters in New Delhi on May 12 emphasised the need for all-round economy in the Navy particularly due to shortage of foreign exchange. They should give every help to step up the indigenous production of stores and use indigenous items. He called upon the administrative authorities in the Navy to ensure that personnel and welfare problems were tackled in a human way. Stressing the importance of team work, Vice-Admiral Katari said that without team work the Navy would not be able to make real or lasting progress. During their three-day stay in the capital senior Naval officers will discuss various questions relating to the administration of the service with the officers.
