Staff Reporter
KARUR: Aravakurichi police in the district on Tuesday arrested three persons on charges of stealing a lorry laden with iron rods load. S. Eswaran (42) of Sankarankoil was driving a lorry laden with iron rods from Tiruchengode to Madurai on April 11 last. When he got off his vehicle to answer nature’s call at Pethankottai near here, unidentified men gagged him and drove away his vehicle. Based on his complaint, a special team was formed to probe the incident. Investigations zeroed in on Martin (29) of Podhanur. His interrogation led to the arrest of Rajendran (29) of Gandhipuram and his relative Senthil Kumar (34) of Coimbatore. It was recovered and about nine tonnes of iron rods were seized. A Maruti van used to commit the crime was also seized. Police are on the look out for three others who collaborated in the crime.
