Bus service to Collectorate sought
Staff Reporter
PUDUKOTTAI: Taking due cognisance of the grievances of the members of the public, the district wing of the Tamil Nadu Rural Development Employees’ Association has urged the district administration to operate town buses between the New Bus Stand to Collectorate to benefit the public visiting the Collectorate.
At present, the town bus service between the bus stand and the Collectorate is few and far, not on a par with those available in cities like Tiruchi. A large number of villagers seeking some assistance or other at the Collectorate are left in the lurch. The worst sufferers are those visiting the Collectorate on Mondays to submit their petitions at the weekly Grievances day’ meeting.
The resolution assumes significance in the wake of the total absence of share-autorickshaw services in the town, forcing the villagers to depend upon autorickshaws.
Another resolution pleaded for filling up of vacant posts of Junior Assistants and other grass-root level posts for efficient implementation of the rural developmental works.
The district president of the Association Sakthivel presided over the meeting. The State secretary Krishnasamy and the district joint secretary Natarajan were among those who spoke.
