SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Democratic Youth Federation of India is going for its seventh State Conference in Mandi this coming Saturday with a new slogan, “Invest in youth for a better future, even development and overall prosperity”. According to CPI (M) State Secretariat member and DYFI secretary Khushal Bhardwaj, 200 delegates from all over the State will take part in the two-day conference. National secretary Tapas Sinha will address the rally on Saturday. The hill State has the maximum percentage of jobless youth vis-À-vis its population in the entire country and this is going to be the main issue to be discussed at the convention, said Mr. Bhardwaj. According to an estimate, there are more than 9 lakh registered unemployed youth in the State. Besides, the issues of inflation, privatisation and commercialisation of education, opposition to the Fiscal Management Responsibility Bill, filling up all vacant posts in government offices, regularisation of all para and contractual teachers, opening up of a government medical college in Mandi, ensuring genuine compensation for land and recognition for Ayurvedic pharmacists in the State would be thoroughly discussed in the convention, he said.
