Notice to State on women DSPs’ recruitment

J. Venkatesan

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Tamil Nadu government on a writ petition filed by 11 DSPs, all men, challenging the recruitment of 26 temporary women DSPs to anti-dowry cells in 1994.

The petitioners, N. Manivannan and 10 others, said the women DSPs’ tenure was extended every year, and they were given permanent status without any regularisation order being passed.

A Bench of Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan, Justice R.V. Raveendran and Justice M.K. Sharma issued notice.
