Krithika sitting pretty at the top

Tiruchengode: Pon. N. Krithika of Kancheepuram is sitting pretty at the top with six points from as many rounds in the 19th Tamil Nadu State under-17 chess championship at the SKV MHSS here on Tuesday.

Top seed R.A. Pradeep Kumar, Ajay Srikanth (from Chennai) and Muthu Alagappan of Thiruvallur, with 5.5 points, are in joint lead in the boys’ section.

CDBBA gets past BSNL

Host Coimbatore District Basketball Association (CDBBA) got past a fighting BSNL (New Delhi) 67-61 in a men’s league match of the 50th all India basketball tournament for men for the Nachimuthu Gounder Cup at the VOC Park Corporation Sports Complex courts at Coimbatore on Tuesday.

Ramkumar (27), Harshvardhan (19) and K. Karthik (14) worked hard for the winner, while Ulas Jose (16) was the top contributor for BSNL.
