ANANTAPUR: The district administration is facing a piquant situation over the commencement of door-to-door exercise to photograph the voters not having the electronic photo identity cards (EPIC) to be issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), as the contractor who was accorded the job is “not traceable” by the authorities now. Uncertainty is prevailing over the commencement of the exercise in the district with the efforts of the district authorities to contact the management of the agency proved futile. The situation is causing concern to the authorities as the the delay in taking it up the exercise could make the task of publishing the final list of voters on July 31 difficult. . The authorities concerned were said to have been trying repeatedly to contact the management of the agency for the last few days to take up the exercise immediately. The delay being caused by the contractor has already forced the schedules prepared by the Tehsildars concerned go haywire. Meanwhile, nearly 56 per cent of voters in the district does not possess photo identity cards.
