For the people: Lok Satta Party founder Jayaprakash Narayan along with P. Rohit Kumar who is contesting from Musheerabad Assembly constituency, in Domalguda on Tuesday. HYDERABAD: In a single file the volunteers marched. In the lead were drum beaters whipping up a rhythmic beat that was enough to open doors and make curious residents peep out. The Lok Satta Party candidate for Musheerabad Assembly constituency P. Rohit Kumar accompanied by the party president Jayaprakash Narayan carried out his campaign in parts of Domalguda, Ashoknagar, Jawaharnagar, Chikkadpally and Baghlingampally here on Tuesday. A party office was opened at Domalguda and wending its way through Gagan Mahal, activists made brief halts at different points for an interaction with the voters. There were greetings with folded hands for those standing in balconies, while Dr. Narayan climbed down from the open jeep at several points for a conversation. At a laundry shop, he enquired with the woman as to what her children did. “My son is studying ninth in a government school,” she said while calling him out. His hand around the boy’s shoulder, Dr. Narayan enquired about some basic maths formula only to get a sheepish response from the boy that he did not know. “Look, this is the education at government schools. This is what we want to change,” he told voters gathered around. At several apartment blocks, a brief stop helped him in introducing the party candidate to the voters. “Every one promised but none delivered. We want to impress this upon the voters and ask them to join in ushering in a change,” said Mr. Rohit. Even while moving through the narrow road stretches, the campaign rally remained in order and not much trouble was caused to the motorists. The volunteers, both young and senior citizens, ensured that the campaigners do not spill out and disrupt the vehicular movement.
