‘Farmer not trampled upon by elephants’

HYDERABAD: Forest Minister S. Vijayarama Raju has denied reports that elephants have killed a farmer in Chittoor district after damaging his fields.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, the Minister said the farmer died of “natural causes” and not by being trampled by the elephants. His fields with crops, however, were found damaged. The loss suffered by the family was put at Rs. 5 lakh.
