BANGALORE: A 28-year-old woman was found dead in her house in K. Narayanapura in Hennur police station limits on Tuesday. The police suspect she might have been strangled. According to the police, Rekha, wife of Krishnamurthy, a driver in the office of Accountant-General, was found dead when her sister came visiting on Tuesday. The latter knocked at Rekha’s door and called the neighbours when she got no response. They broke open the door and found the body, which bore marks of strangulation. The police suspect the murder might have been committed by those known to the couple though the motive is yet to be ascertained. Car theftsThe Hulimavu police solved a series of car theft cases reported in Mumbai with the arrest of Srinivasan (33), a native of Salem in Tamil Nadu, and recovered 17 stolen vehicles valued at Rs 2.8 crore. The stolen vehicles recovered include, eight trucks, four lorries and six cars. All these vehicles were stolen from Mumbai city police station limits, the police said. Based on the information given by Srinivasan to the city police, the Mumbai crime branch police were able to arrest some other members of the gang — Manikantan, Palaniswamy, Bharjan Khan, Nawab Ali, Irshad, Michael and Ahudesh Paul. The Mumbai police have recovered two stolen lorries, a sport utility vehicle, and two cars based on the information given by them.
