Foundation stone laid

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The process of bringing about an improvement in the Capital’s trans-Yamuna colonies would be speeded up and the area would be transformed with the coming of the Games Village and commissioning of three new metro railway routes in the coming years, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said after laying the foundation stone of a three-level grade separator at Ghazipur Crossing on Tuesday.

The grade separator, which would comprise a flyover, an underpass, a surface rotary and foot-over bridges at Ghazipur Crossing, would be constructed at a cost of Rs. 246 crore and completed ahead of the Commonwealth Games in 2010. It would facilitate smooth flow of traffic on National Highway-24 providing easy to and fro access to the adjoining districts of Ghaziabad and Noida in Uttar Pradesh.

The Chief Minister said lakhs of commuters would benefit daily with the coming up of the new grade separator. “With it the crossing would become signal-free.”
