Masked men loot house

NEW DELHI: Four masked men barged into a house and allegedly decamped with Rs.5 lakh in cash and jewellery after overpowering the occupants in Welcome Colony here on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident took place around 2-30 p.m. when property dealer and interior designer Wahid Hussain, his father Zahid Hussain, his two wives Nushrat and Mubashra and their seven children were in the house. Armed with country-made firearms, the robbers tied up the hands and legs of the victims and locked them up in a room. They then ransacked the house and made off with the cash and jewellery.

The incident was reported to the police around 3-30 p.m. after the victims were freed by Wahid’s nine-year-old son, Sameer. Wahid told the police that he had bought the jewellery recently for the marriage of his two daughters. Based on his complaint, the police have registered a case and are trying to identify the culprits.
