Biogas plant at Mayakunnu

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A biogas plant will be set up in two months on 50 cents of land owned by the Tourism Department at Mayakunnu, behind the Light House beach at Kovalam.

A decision to this effect was arrived at a meeting of the local panchayat and all stakeholders in the tourism industry at Kovalam on Tuesday. The meeting was convened in the wake of opposition from the local people to the setting up of the plant. George Mercier, MLA, was present.

A meeting of those living near the site of the proposed plant will be held on Saturday to create awareness. — Staff Reporter
