KOCHI: On Tuesday, a 15-year-old girl from Kadavantra here lodged a complaint with the police that Santhosh Madhavan who was arrested had sexually exploited her in 2006 when she was staying under his sponsorship at an ashram he ran at Ponekkara in Kochi. A case has been filed against him under IPC 366A and 376 (procuration of a minor and rape). The police suspect that the accused had made pornographic videos of the girl. He is also suspected of sexually exploiting other girls of that age. The police had registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act after they seized 12 gm of ganja from his residence here during a search on Saturday night. A case (under the Wildlife Protection Act) relating to the seizure of tiger skin and sandalwood pieces from his residence has been transferred to the Forest Department. SuspendedSpecial Correspondent adds from Thiruvananthapuram: Sam Christy, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Alappuzha, has been placed under suspension pending inquiry. Although no reason is given for the action, it is understood to be due to his associations with Santhosh Madhavan.
