Former AIIMS Director writes to Venugopal
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The former Acting Director of the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences and Dean (Examinations), Dr. T. D. Dogra, has in a letter to the Institute Director Dr. P. Venugopal complained of “misbehaviour” by the AIIMS Faculty Association president Dr. B. K. Khaitan and Maninder Singh, the personal legal counsel of Dr. Venugopal. He claimed that they had subjected him to “highly derogatory, abusive and insulting remarks”.
In his letter, Dr. Dogra said Mr. Singh “shouted at him regarding files of the examination cell, which he had submitted to the Secretary (Health) regarding enquiry into the selection of senior residents”.
Dr. Dogra, who has demanded protection fearing physical violence, has also sought earned leave from May 12 to 15 and summer vacation from May 16 to July 2.
Copies of the letter have been submitted to Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, the Union Health Secretary, the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission and the Deputy Director (Administration) of the Institute.
Dr. Dogra said he was “abused and humiliated” in Dr. Venugopal’s chamber where he had gone to register his complaint. “Throughout this period, I regret that your good self (Dr. Venugopal) did not object, while they were insulting and humiliating me,” said Dr. Dogra in his complaint.
