‘Relax pension norms for disabled’

VILLUPURAM: The Villupuram District Physically Handicapped Social Service Welfare Association has appealed to the State government to relax the norms for pension benefit from 60 per cent to 40 per cent disability. In a representation, association president M.Ramesh noted that while the government order stipulated that all those with above 40 per cent disability were eligible for welfare schemes, the officials were turning down their plea for pension.

The officials insisted that only those with 60 per cent disability were eligible for pension.
