Collector forwards interim report

PUDUCHERRY: The District Collector has forwarded an interim report of the inquiry conducted by the Sub Divisional Magistrate into the death of life convict Kamal Shah at the Central Prison to the Home Department, sources in the Revenue Department said.

The magisterial inquiry was independent from the inquiry ordered by the Government into the mysterious death of the prisoner last month. The magisterial inquiry is mandatory as per the NHRC norms for death inside prison, officials said. — Staff Reporter
