Kalyanotsavam today

Annavaram: The kalyanotsavam of Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swami will be performed atop Ratnagiri on Thursday night at around 9.30 p.m.

Temple Executive Officer M. Raghunath said that ‘yedurukolu utsavam’ was held on Wednesday and the processional deity of Kshetrapalaka Seetharama swami was taken in a procession on Anjaneya Vahanam.

Mr. Raghunath said that the kalyanotsavam would last for one week. Pushpayagam would be performed on the final day on May 21.

He said that some one lakh pilgrims were expected to participate in the kalyanotsavam this year. Elaborate arrangements were made to cope up with the rush, he said, adding that water and buttermilk would be made available to the devotees. Special order was placed for preparation of prasadam on a large scale keeping in view the demand.

The EO said that the government had given Rs.13 crores for development of the shrine. Tenders were called to take up these works.
