Judgment on RWAs’ petitions reserved
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday reserved judgment on a bunch of petitions by residents’ welfare associations of some South Delhi colonies objecting to the construction of an elevated metro railway line between Central Secretariat and Badarpur. Justice T. S. Thakur and Justice Aruna Suresh reserved the judgment after hearing arguments by the Union Government and the petitioners.
The welfare associations objected to the construction of the line on the ground of violation of privacy of the residents and noise pollution. The proposed elevated link, among others, would pass through Greater Kailash, Defence Colony, Lajpat Nagar, Kailash Colony, Jangpura and Kalkaji. The residents of colonies between Jangpura and Kalkaji also expressed apprehension that the proposed link would damage the green cover in their areas .
