MANALI (H.P.): The snow-capped Manali-Rohtang Pass, closed to road traffic since December 15, has been opened, much to the glee of tourists. Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) Commander S. K. Doon told PTI that vehicular movement through the 54-km Pass has restored the only link between Lahual-Spiti district and the rest of the world. “The clearing of thick snow lying on the road started on February 18,” said the Commander, adding that nearly 100 BRTF personnel, 16 bulldozers, two excavators, three snow-cutters and 200 labourers accomplished the mammoth task within a period of three months.
