Nedumbassery: Security at the Cochin International Airport here was tightened further on Thursday with the airport officials instructing the security agencies at the airport to remain alert in the wake of the Jaipur blasts. However, no additional forces were deployed and no visible changes made in the security set-up. The agencies intensified frisking of passengers, luggage inspection and so on. Regarding the alert, the airport officials said though no red alert notice had been served to the airport by the Central intelligence agencies, the airport authority decided to direct the security agencies to remain alert in the wake of the increasing terrorist attacks in the country. The officials said they would ensure that the measures would not affect passenger movement through the airport. At a meeting held two days ago between the airport officials and the security agencies, including the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security and the Central Industrial Security Force, a decision to increase the airside security of the airport was taken.
