CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda asserted on Wednesday that the Assembly by-elections from Adampur, Gohana and Indri on May 22 would be a referendum on “the unprecedented development activities” carried out by his regime during the past three years. Addressing a series of meetings in Indri constituency in favour of Congress candidate Bhim Sain Mehta, Mr. Hooda exuded confidence that the people of the three constituencies would send the party nominees to the Assembly to give fillip to development activities in these area which were hitherto represented by Congress MLAs who later on defected to the Haryana Janhit Congress. Hundreds of workers of the Indian National Lok Dal, Bharatiya Janata Party, Bahujan Samaj Party and Haryana Janhit Congress joined the Congress in Mr. Hooda’s presence. He reiterated the allegation that his predecessors had failed in bringing about development in these constituencies over the years. Meanwhile, his son Deepender Hooda, the Member of Parliament from Rohtak, alleged that Opposition leaders were misleading the electorate of Gohana in the name of development and making “false” promises to upgrade it to a district on coming to power.
