Fined

BANGALORE: A Division Bench comprising Justice Huluvadi G. Ramesh and Justice A.S. Bopanna on Tuesday levied Rs. 10,000 on an individual for “misusing” habeas corpus petition.

Sheikh Suleman through a habeas corpus petition sought direction from the police to produce his wife and two children.

Mr. Suleman’s wife had gone to her brother’s house after informing him. When the matter came up, the Bench was told that Mr. Suleman filed a habeas corpus petition although he knew the whereabouts of his wife and children. The Bench levied the fine on Mr. Suleman and dismissed his petition.
