Consumer protection workshop

BANGALORE: A workshop on consumer protection issues in the telecom sector will be held on May 17 at the National Law School of India University (NLSUI). It has been organised jointly by the Consumer Rights Education and Awareness Trust and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

TRAI measures

A release said that among the issues that would be discussed include initiatives taken by service providers to protect the interests of the consumers, and status of implementation of consumer protection measures issued by TRAI. The panel discussion would be attended by representatives of major telecom players including BSNL, Airtel, Tata Telecom, Vodafone, Essar, Reliance and Spice. It said that the TRAI adviser for consumer affairs, Mathew Palamattam, will talk on measures taken by TRAI to protect consumer interest.

Besides, a State-level networking meet on reaching out to the grassroots and networking in India on trade and economics will also be held.
