Kozhikode: KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala has said that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government has no moral authority to celebrate its second anniversary since “it has failed to find solutions to people’s problems.” Speaking at a press conference in Kozhikode on Wednesday, Mr. Chennithala announced that the United Democratic Front (UDF) would observe “betrayal day” on May 18 throughout the State to focus attention on “LDF government’s failure to keep promises made to people.” He alleged that the anniversary celebrations of LDF government were only an attempt to create a false sense of security and well-being among the people. “The government neglected people’s issues for the last two years. It failed to check price rise. There is scarcity of essential commodities. Its governance was marred by lack of communication between the Chief Minister and his ministers. There is infighting among constituents of the Left front… how can there be a celebration, with fanfare, in such a situation?” the KPCC president asked. He recalled that at the time of celebrating the first anniversary of LDF rule, the Chief Minister had promised that all illegal encroachments upon government land would be evicted. The promise turned out to be hollow, the KPCC chief said and demanded that the government publish a White Paper on the extent of encroachments and the action taken to vacate the encroachers.
