This Day That Age
“I would like you to remember that public schools are much more in the public eye and, partly because of their good educational standards and the social training of their children, more is expected of them than of the ordinary schools. They can play their part worthily and should become pioneering schools, training worthy citizens, experimenting in new methods and techniques under promising and favourable conditions, which are vouchsafed to them and thus blaze a new trail which other schools can follow,” said Mr. K.G. Saiyidain, Educational Adviser to the Government of India, while delivering the commemoration address at the Centenary celebrations of the Lawrence School, Lovedale, on May 14.
