Krithika marches ahead

Tiruchengode: State junior champion, Pon. N. Krithika of Kancheepuram, with seven points, strengthened her position at the top in the girls’ section at the end of the seventh round in the Tamil Nadu State under-17 chess championship at the SKV MHSS here on Wednesday.

Krithika had no difficulty in dispatching P. Sujitha of Coimbatore. Even as the leader was busy working on her young opponent, R. Visalatchi of Sivakasi quietly pulled off a surprise win over second seed P. Uthra of Thiruvallur to stay in contention for the second spot.
