The victim is an employee of a reputed transport company CUTTACK: In yet another case of looting cash from transport staff, some unidentified persons decamped with Rs. 3 lakhs from an employee of a reputed transport company at gunpoint near Jagatpur of the city here on Wednesday. It occurred when Sri Transport Company supervisor Gopal Rath was returning to his office after withdrawing the amount from the nearby Urban Cooperative Bank, police said. “We have registered a case and investigation is on. No one is arrested or detained in connection with the case yet,” said Cuttack DCP S. Praveen Kumar. According to local police, Rath, 57, after withdrawing the money was walking back to his office located just about 50 metres from the bank when three youths on a motorcycle intercepted him. “One of the robbers suddenly caught hold of Rath by neck and brandishing a revolver asked him to handover the bag containing the cash. The victim, however, putting in some resistance threw the bag to a nearby cycle shop where three persons were sitting. But the robbers managed to escape from the spot carrying the cash bag,” said the investigating police officer Siddheswar Mohapatra quoting the FIR filed by Rath.
