Malkangiri: In a novel method to disrupt flow of information to the police about Maoist activities, the naxalites are snatching mobile phones from people in several villages in Motu and Chitrakonda areas of Orissa’s Malkangiri district, according to the police. Over a dozen mobile sets have been snatched by Maoists from remote and far-flung villages of Penta and Mayamkonda in Motu area during the last three days, the police said. The naxalites seem to have adopted the new strategy to snatch cell phones, which enable the villagers to pass on information regarding the movement and activities of Maoists to the police, a police official said. -PTI
