Health Minister P.K.Sreemathy. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister for Health P. K. Sreemathy has warned of stern action against government doctors, who are going on a day’s token strike on Thursday. In a statement here, she claimed that the government had accepted most of the demands put forth by the government doctors and had taken up an additional annual commitment of Rs.20 crore to fulfil the demands of doctors. The government had also taken steps to implement the Speciality and Administrative cadre, as had been demanded by doctors. The special package declared by the government would have given doctors a monthly hike of Rs.2,200 to Rs.5,000,. Ms. Sreemathy claimed. The government had also declared that the allowances announced would be protected and that these will be considered in the next Pay Commission. Despite all this, by going ahead with the strike, the doctors were posing a challenge to the government and the people as well, Ms. Sreemathy claimed.
