Singer’s post-mortem to be reviewed
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The police in neighbouring Gurgaon will seek a second opinion on the post-mortem report of noted classical singer Shanti Sharma who was found dead outside her DLF-I house this past month under highly mysterious circumstances.
“As per the post-mortem report, Ms. Sharma had died due to brain haemorrhage, shock and head injuries. In the light of recent developments, a clear-cut opinion of doctors will be sought to know whether she was murdered and then pushed off the building. A detailed report will also be sought from the crime team to ascertain whether the victim had leapt off the building or was pushed. It will be followed by sustained interrogation of Dinesh Sharma and Madhukar Sharma,” said SHO (DLF-I) Babu Lal, who is investigating the case.
The police had earlier concluded that the singer had committed suicide by leaping off the third floor of her house on April 22, but a murder case was registered against her husband Dinesh Sharma and brother-in-law Madhukar Sharma following a Gurgaon court orderfollowing a complaint filed by Kamakshi and Geetha Jayaram, sisters of the deceased Shanti Sharma. They have submitted a petition to the National Commission for Women demanding a thorough probe.
