BJP flays UPA for not checking terrorism

Activists burn an effigy of “terrorist groups”

Action in protest against bomb blasts in Jaipur

HYDERABAD: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activists burnt an effigy of “terrorist groups” near the RTC Crossroads on Wednesday to protest against the serial bomb blasts in Jaipur which claimed more than 60 lives.

Addressing the gathering, State BJP president Bandaru Dattateya alleged that terrorism had increased in the country ever since the UPA government came to power.

Vote-bank politics

He accused it of pursuing “vote-bank” politics.

K. Laxman, general secretary, said that Hyderabad had become a hub for terrorists and accused the State government of failing to take stringent action to check them.

Meanwhile, Mr. Dattatreya in a statement condemned the blasts and urged the Central and the State governments to act firmly against terrorism of all kinds.

“The Jaipur incident should be an eye-opener for all those who want to mortgage the interest of nation for vote bank politics,” he added.

Unfortunate

He said ‘unfortunately’, the country failed to establish appropriate mechanism to counter and neutralise terrorism although it had been the target of international terrorist activity. The Andhra Pradesh Paschim unit of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Hindu Vahini Hyderabad also condemned the blasts.
