HYDERABAD: The three consultants short-listed for preparing the Master Plan for the extended 5,000 sq.km area of HUDA presented their technical proposals to HUDA authorities here on Wednesday. The three consultants, LEA Associates South Asia-Delhi, Ove Arup and Partners, Hong Kong and Centre for Environmental Planning and Technology (CEPT), Ahmedabad, elaborated the issues pertaining to plan preparation, infrastructural developments - urban housing, rehabilitation of informal sector, sanitation plans and other related issues. Of the three consultants, the technical presentations of LEA Associates and CEPT made the grade and their financial bids are now being evaluated to finalise the consultant. It is learnt that CEPT’s financial bid was the lowest but officials are evaluating it before taking a final decision. A team of HUDA officials headed by Vice-Chairman K.S. Jawahar Reddy, officials from DTCP, GHMC were presented at the technical presentation by the short-listed consultants. The selected consultant is expected to start work by May-end and complete it within a period of 18 months. The new plan will be different from old HUDA Master Plan as it will club ‘Development plan with Infrastructure and Investment Plan’ for ensuring planned growth and development, according to HUDA Vice-Chairman.
