VHP seeks ban on conversions

Udhagamandalam: The Executive Committee of the State Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) which met here recently resolved to urge the government to re-impose a ban on conversions.

It pointed out that such a measure was necessary to foster communal harmony.

By another resolution the meeting condemned films which portrayed Hinduism in a poor light. The authorities should view seriously attempts made to disrespect the sentiments of the Hindus. The meeting resolved to protect lands belonging to temples.

Prohibition

It also urged the government to introduce total prohibition.
