Bangalore: The former Prime Minister and national president of the Janata Dal (Secular), H.D. Deve Gowda, has expressed his pain and anguish over the loss of lives and injuries caused by what he termed the dastardly serial bomb blasts in Jaipur on Tuesday. In a statement here on Wednesday, he said: “I share the pain and agony of the bereaved and affected families in their hour of crisis. I also admire the resilience, fortitude and tolerance displayed by the people of Jaipur in the face of grave provocation. Even if there is any lapse on anybody’s part which led to the inhuman tragedy, I believe that this is not the time to indulge in petty politics and blame game. However, those who accuse others of being soft towards terrorism would do well to do some soul searching and introspection as to what is happening in their own backyard.” Mr. Deve Gowda said while fixing the responsibility for any dereliction of duty, the nation should come together to fight the scourge of terrorism with determination. The culprits behind these gruesome attacks, irrespective of their religious and political affiliations should be tracked down, brought to book and punished severely so that a strong message is sent out that the perpetrators of such crimes against humanity who want to tear apart “our social fabric will not be spared at any cost.” He said the authorities should further strengthenthe intelligence and security apparatus to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
