Thrissur: Industries Minister Elamaram Karim has said the Government had major plans for industrial development in Thrissur. He was addressing a meeting to present the State and district-level awards for successful small industrialists here on Thursday. He said the Government would sanction more funds for developing diamond, tile and gold jewellery manufacturing industries in the district. “The Kerala Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) will start an industrial park at Chelakkara. The Industries Department wants its branches and units to be corruption-free. Action will be taken against the guilty,” he said. M. Suresh Babu of Western Plastic Processing Company, Thalore, won the award for the best small industrialist (general category) in the district. Awards for best performance were also presented to officials and beneficiaries of the Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana.
