Three killed as lorry rams into jeeps
SRIVILLIPUTTUR: Three persons were killed, and seven others injured, when a speeding lorry hit two stationary jeeps on the Madurai-Rajapalayam highway near here early on Thursday. The police said a group from Idukki district in Kerala were proceeding to Panaiyur in Tirunelveli in two vehicles to attend a marriage. They stopped at Azhagapuri when the lorry, carrying raw materials for a cement factory, rammed into the vehicles. Brothers S. Pichu and S. Mohan died on the spot. K. Mani, who was inside the vehicle, died at the government hospital. The Nathampatti police have arrested lorry driver S. Thanigachalam. — Staff Reporter
