Kochi: The police on Thursday filed a final report before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Cherian K. Kuriakose seeking to refer as “mistake of facts” the complaint by K.G. Abraham, managing director of KGA Estate, that the former Public Works Minister T.U. Kuruvilla, his son and two daughters had cheated him in a land deal. The final report said the former Minister had not played any role in the land deal. Mr. Kuruvilla had not taken part either in the negotiations or discussion held with Mr. Abraham. The police said the complaint did not reveal any criminal offence. It was only a financial transaction for a land deal. The complainant said he had signed an agreement with the former Minister’s son and two daughters to purchase 50.52 acres of land in Rajakumari village in Munnar for constructing a hotel and paid Rs.6.7 crore as advance amount. They made him believe that the land was fit for constructing a hotel. Later he came to know that the land was a cardamom plantation. But Mr. Kuruvilla and his son refused to either return the money or give the land. The complaint alleged that the former Minster had hatched a conspiracy with his son who is the general manger of Mr. Abraham’s company, and his daughters to cheat him. The former Minister had been cited as the first accused in the case. The police also told the court that the son and daughters of the former Minister had not given the complainant any assurance that the land was suitable for a hotel project .He demanded the advance amount back in the light of the eviction drive in Munnar.
