Applications for national award

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Women and Child Development Department has invited applications from individuals and associations for conferring national awards.

The Union Government had instituted the national awards on the occasion of International Year of the Child in 1979. The awards will be given to five non-governmental organisations (Rs. 3 lakh each) and three individuals (Rs. 1 lakh each) every year.

Eligibility

To qualify for the award, the NGOs and individuals should have served the cause of children for at least five years. A committee constituted by the State Government will recommend the best association and individual for the award to the Central Government.

The application forms are available at the offices of the Deputy Director, Women and Child Development Department at all districts.

Applications in triplicate, filled in English, should be submitted to the Deputy Directors concerned before June 15, said an official release. Applications received after the due date will not be considered.
