G. de Stefani, former Italian Davis Cup player and a member of the International Olympic Committee and Vice-President of the International Lawn Tennis Association, on May 14 in Tokyo paid a glowing tribute to Indian tennis. He said that Italy, who were meeting India in the Davis Cup tie, would have a hard time as Krishnan had been showing good form. Stefani, who as among the world’s first ten, visited India in 1932 and remembered his visit to Madras. He said that India always possessed outstanding players since the days of Sleem. “She has now vastly improved because she has been sending her players to foreign countries."
