KATHMANDU: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Rakesh Sood has stressed for formation of a national unity government in Nepal. Speaking to journalists here, Mr. Sood said, “All the major political forces must come together to make a national government and they should work on the basis of consensus.” He indirectly called on the Maoists to take initiatives towards building a consensus. “It becomes necessary for all the political parties, especially the Maoist party, which has emerged as the largest party, to take a position of responsibility to develop consensus and to form a government of national unity.” Meanwhile, the Communist Party of Nepal has elected Jhala Nath Khanal as general secretary.
