MANGALORE: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has dispatched currency coins worth over Rs. 70 lakh to Dakshina Kannada district. A press release from Kumble Narasihma Prabu, president, Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on Thursday, stated that Rs. 50 lakh worth coins had been sent to current chests of leading nationalised banks in the city. The KCCI had taken up the issue with the Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, Devaki Muthukrishnan. Mr. Prabhu said the banks, which had received the coins, had agreed to join force with the chamber for a symbolic release of coins at a “Coin mela’ to be held in KCCI hall early next week.
