THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The highest bidder for the container transhipment terminal project at Vizhinjam, near here, is a consortium consisting of the Hyderabad-based Lanco Kondappalli Power Private Limited, its sister concern Lanco Infratech Limited and a Malaysian company Pembinaan Redzai Sdn. The bids for the Rs.5,348-crore project were evaluated on Wednesday by a committee set up by the State government. The committee selected the consortium after a three-stage evaluation process, Minister for Ports M. Vijayakumar said. The consortium led by Lanco Kondappalli Power Private Ltd quoted a ‘negative debt support’ of Rs.34.94 crore. There were two other bidders who qualified for taking up the project on the basis of the technical parameters. One was a consortium consisting of the Hyderabad-based Nagarjuna Construction Company Limited and a Singapore company called India and Overseas Port Management Private Limited. The other was a consortium consisting of three Mumbai-based companies: Videocon Industries Ltd, Gammon India Ltd and Gammon Infrastructure Projects Limited.
