Waive house mortgage loans: BJP

CHENNAI: Bharatiya Janata Party state president L. Ganesan has urged the State government to waive house mortgage loans raised by owners in Tamil Nadu Cooperative Societies.

In a statement here on Thursday, he said though many owners had repaid the principal, the societies were demanding interest and penal interest.

Following house owners’ protests, penal interest was waived and interest concession given.

But they were not enough. The Government should waive the entire mortgage loans without any condition, he said.
