Centres to be set up at a cost of about Rs. 5 crore Centres to have modern equipment, blood banks ANANTAPUR: Two trauma healthcare centres would be set up along the national highways in the district near Gooty and near Tadipatri to provide timely and better treatment to road accident victims, Joint Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh Vaidya Vidhana Parishad Shankar Narayana said at Guntakal on Friday. The two trauma care centres would be set up at a cost of about Rs. 5 crore and would have modern equipment and blood banks to treat all kinds of road accident victims. Special staff would also be appointed for the centres, which would be functional within two years. Shortage of doctorsHe admitted that there was shortage of doctors in government hospitals and only 230 of them had joined the service recently against notification issued for filling 536 posts. Better opportunities outside were keeping them away from government hospitals, he felt. Notifications would also be issued soon to fill 900 staff nurse posts and 458 paramedical posts in the APVVP hospitals. On doctors seeking deputation to PHCs from APVVP hospitals the Joint Commissioner said they were opting for the former as they could have private practice and earn good money if they were working in the PHCs and it was difficult if they were with APVVP hospitals. The government was considering giving special increments to the doctors in APVVP hospital to retain them and prevent them from seeking deputation to PHCs. He directed the district coordinator of health services (APVVP hospitals) to arrange cold drinking water facility and repairs to ECG equipment in the Government Area Hospital at Guntakal. The government was also exploring the possibility of shifting the DCH office from Hindupur to Anantapur for administrative facility. The office was shifted to Hindupur from Anantapur when the medical college was set up in Anantapur.
