Sudeep… positive approach to emotions Film: Mussanjemaatu (Kannada) Cast: Sudeep, Ramya and Anu Prabhakar Director: Mahesh Debutant Director Mahesh’s Mussanjemaatu holds mirror to the fast changing taste and outlook of Kannada cinema. Although the plot is stale, tight screenplay, cleverly carved out situations, sensible dialogues, tackling relevant human issues, good music and poignant characterisation lend credibility to the purpose of the film. But the excessive play of the traditional manipulative technique of commercial cinema on the audience dilutes the quality and tests the viewer’s patience to some extent. Right from the beginning Mahesh harps on the two powerful facets of the theme, problems and solutions, with a balanced view. On the one hand, he exploits a radio talk show, Mussanjemaatu, conducted by a popular radio jockey Pradeep (Sudeep), to bring to light human problems with an emphasis on adolescent relationships and filial bondages. On the other hand, he attempts to explore the possibilities of finding solutions through public participation for a human and social cause using his role as a radio jockey as a via media. At the outset, the film is all about the vitality of a positive approach to handling emotional problems and the importance of taking corrective measures to overcome human follies with a broad outlook.
